FAQs

Can I come to see the puppies?

Yes, for those owners who are seriously interested in owning one of our gorgeous English Golden Retrievers we would love to meet you. You are more than welcome to come to our home and get to know the adult dogs as well as the puppies anytime. Please call us to set up an appointment.

How do I reserve a puppy?

Call us!  This gives us a chance to get to know potential owners and it gives you a chance to get to know us as breeders. You will also be asked to complete a puppy application on our website.  We are more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Can I pick my puppy out?

We as breeders always have the first opportunity to pick any puppy we wish to keep. The remaining puppies will be picked in the order of when each deposit was received. We do not recommend choosing your puppy until they have reached about 6 weeks because personalities have just started to develop.  If you are not able to come to our home and personally pick out a puppy, call us and tell us what you are looking for in your new puppy. Because they live with us in our home, we know each puppies personality and temperament very well, and along with your input we can help match up a puppy to fit your needs. We will take several pictures of each puppy throughout the short time we have them so you can watch each of them grow and change.

What is the price of your puppies?

Our puppies are $2,500. This price includes vet checks, dewclaws removed, multiple wormings, first vaccinations, and a 24 month health guarantee on hips, elbows, heart, and eyes.  We take pride in our breeding program and spend extra to complete health clearances of the adults to ensure you are getting a healthy puppy. This price includes tax and deposit.

Will you refund my deposit?

Yes, your deposit is refundable up until the day your puppy is born. We understand that unexpected situations in life change. Depending on each situation and when we are notified, a partial to full refund of the deposit will be returned.

When can I pick my puppy up?

When your puppy is eight weeks old you can personally pick your puppy up or you can have your puppy shipped directly to you.

Do you sell your puppies with breeding rights?

We primarily sell our puppies as pets only with a limited registration. This means you cannot use the dog to breed. However, you can participate in obedience, rally, agility, etc. Your dog can also be trained as a therapy/service dog. Occasionally we will sell a show potential puppy with breeding rights to approved homes only.

How are your puppies raised?

Our puppies are whelped (born) in a 5’ x 8’ whelping box in the center of our home. We sleep with the mother beginning 2 days prior to her due date and stay with her until her puppies are born. We have necessary whelping supplies on hand to help during the birthing process if necessary. A heat lamp and heating pad is used to keep the puppies area at a regulated temperature. After all of the puppies have been born and are successfully nursing and doing well we give the puppies an abundance of love and attention. We continue to sleep close by at night for the next 2 weeks to continue monitoring the mother and her babies. Within the first 4 days the puppies will be taken to the vet for their first check-up and to get their dewclaws removed.

During the puppies first few weeks we love to gently hold and snuggle each puppy.  The puppies get used to each family member's touch and smell.  Not only are puppies loved by us, we also have several family members and our children’s friends come over to hold the puppies. They are often rocked, swaddled in a blanket, and held like a baby. Their bedding is washed and changed each day. Puppies will receive their first worming preventative at two weeks old and will continue to be wormed every two weeks until they go to their forever home.

During the third week the puppies have a lot of “firsts.” Each puppy is introduced to grooming. They are given warm baths, blow-dried, and get their nails trimmed. The puppies are given several different toys to play with that have various textures and make different noises. We change the toys often to help develop the puppies' mental and physical stimulation. Now that their ears are open, they are able to experience common household noises such as the vacuum, shower running, washing machine, and people constantly talking to them. Now that they are more mobile they are given different textured surfaces to walk on such as concrete, tile, carpet, blankets, outdoor carpet, and synthetic grass.  Each puppy continues to be picked up, carried, and held frequently.

They are old enough to enjoy eating their first puppy food which consists of warm mush. If weather permits, we take all the puppies outside in the grass for every feeding. This gives each puppy the opportunity to potty in the grass after they eat. To build on their first “potty training” experience, we divide their whelping box so it includes a large potty area.

From the fifth through the seventh week we continue to work on building the puppies' confidence, socializing them with a variety of people and places, and stimulating their senses by adding new things to their play area. Puppies will continue to work on potty training and will be allowed to go outside in the grass to follow their mother as an example. Surface baths and full baths are given frequently, due to the mess they make when eating.  They will also be taken to the vet for their last puppy check up, will be microchipped and receive their first vaccinations. Each puppy is exposed to car rides to get used to the movement. When each puppy is eight weeks old they are able to go to their new home, but will always have a place in our hearts. We will continue to answer any questions you may have throughout the lifetime of your puppy and hope you stay in touch with us so we can watch them grow.
